The New Exploration Menu

Stores You Follow

We’ve recently added a new tab to our new menu design that’s strictly dedicated to stores.

We’re making it quick and easy to find the stores you want by name, discover nearby stores, access stores you’ve asked to get updates on, keep track of the stores you already visited or are currently following, and see which stores your friends have visited.

To try out this new feature, jump on over to the “Stores” tab and start finding your favorite stores! 

Quick Search

In addition to the search bar at the top of the page that always appears, this week we’ve added a side search bar for the Brands, Topics, Catalogs, and People menus.

Now when you are busy discovering new interests, you’ll be able to directly search in the category that you are already browsing.

New Celeb Promotions

Our two latest additions to ShopyYourWay—Nicki Minaj and Adam Levine, are receiving a lot of interest. We want the excitement to continue, so are giving you some new opportunities to connect.

Starting with Adam Levine, he’ll be hosting his first sweepstakes on ShopYourWay. It runs from now until March 1, and gives you a chance to win an autographed guitar!

And, as part of Adam’s upcoming Kmart collection, he’ll be holding a press conference on Thursday, Feb 21. We already have a special tab to stream the event live, so make sure to check him out at 4:00 PM EST here.

For Nicki, we see that you Barbz just can’t get enough of her! Well, we’ve heard your feedback and are now on the fast-track to implementing new enhancements that make it way easier to connect directly to her.

To start, we are putting Nicki’s newsfeed stories at the top of her page so that you find the Barbz love even faster. We’ve also made it easier to upload images, figure out how to use the site with direct links to our Help Pages, and created a pop-up window to see all the comments on her posts.


On the mobile front, make sure to stop by the iPhone App store to download the latest version of Shop’in.

We’ve made some serious improvements in this version, including the Deals tab (from within the store’s page), which now shows multiple lists of deals. All types of deals are now placed within the same location into one screen for easy viewing.

You’ll also be able to choose a deal type by selecting it from a scrollable tab at the top of the screen, making it even easier to find the types of deals you want. You can also try swiping between tabs to find different deals that are interesting for you.

And, we are giving you even more improvements to help you locate your favorite stores. Our Maps section now uses the newest Google Maps API for better locating and guidance, finding the right stores for you when you need them the most.

Even More News! Literally

This week We’re proud to present two important pages that got a major face lift and look oh-so much better. First there’s the partners page, which includes links to third parties collaborating with the SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS program. They offer great deals to REWARDS members – a special benefit just for you…

The Latest (Additional) News

This is a bit confusing, as this blog is about the latest stuff on the site, i.e. news. But one of our new features is, well, even more news!

Way back when we added a new story type to the site – the buzz around consumer electronics. We brought you – and still do – all you need to know about the latest and newest items and trends. And since we liked it so much, we decided to take the next step and expand to other areas.

Starting now you’ll see on your feed the latest news about Health issues, Food and Groceries and Beauty. Our trusty algorithms are scouring the web to bring you all you need to know about how to eat well, stay healthy and look great. And this is just the beginning – we’ve got more on the way.

It’s About You

We’ve been hard at work on the profile page, and have got some cool stuff to show for it: the about tab. The idea is to present all the information you may need about the user in one place. It includes some personal info on the fellow shopper you’re visiting, some info on his activities on the site, some mutual friends and his catalogs.

It's what it's all about

Our goal is to help our users easily find fellow shoppers with similar tastes and interests, and make new friends. This is just the first step – the about tab is going to get even better – and soon.

And finally, a nifty new feature – clicking on brands in the left navigation will now open special menu top brands, as the default option, instead of directing you to a completely new page. It’s a small yet important change.

Full Steam Ahead

So – the cat is out of the bag, as we’ve told you last week. The site’s new design is now available for all users to experience, and as we promised, we’re going to keep rolling out more improvements and additions.

This week we’ve turned our attention to tag pages – brands, stores etc. Just take a look: Gone is the old single column newsfeed design. The new pages look sleek and modern, offering a much larger variety of items and stories across the page.

The old left navigation is gone as well, replaced by tabs – more convenient and takes up less space. Store pages get a nice display of store opening hours and a map, in case you need some directions.

Meanwhile catalogs get a boost as well, with a new catalog display, showing off some of the items in the catalog on the cover. Check out your catalogs display – it’s cool.

And yes – this is still far from over. We’re going to keep adding new amazing stuff on a weekly basis. We remind you again – all you have to do is click on that little button in the bottom left of the homepage that says “try the new experience”. A few of you guys will discover they were lucky and get the new design as their default version.

The new ShopYourWay is moving, full steam ahead. Get on board…

It’s The New Experience

We’ve been teasing you for a couple of weeks now – and it’s time to stop playing around and show you what we’ve been working so hard on.

It's new and awsome


If you’ll take a look at the site you’ll see an innocent small button on the bottom left. It says “try the new experience”. Click on it and see the page transform into our new, cool design.

You’ll immediately see the difference. Gone is the old newsfeed – Instead you’ll see a larger variety of stories and larger images spread across the screen. It doesn’t matter what screen or resolution you’re using – the site will adapt the display to fit in nicely.

Not only does the page look great, it also lets you easily discover the stuff that really interests you. The focus of the new design is discovery – making it easy and fun to explore and find the right items and fellow shoppers for you.

What else? You’ll notice that the left nav is slimmer and more compact. A couple of clicks into the site and it’ll disappear completely and get out of the way – until you hover over the site logo, that is.

Before it does, take a look at the departments button. Just hover over it with your mouse to see our categories and sub-categories – no need for clicks, just a quick and elegant gesture with your hand and that’s it.



And last but certainly not least – all of your SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS info is located on the top of the page, in an easy to reach compact window.

Just click on the REWARDS button and you’ll see you r point balance, VIP status and a link to your account history page – everything a shopper needs.

And this is just the beginning. We’re working on lots of new and awesome stuff. So take a tour and let us know what you think. and stay tuned…



Check (it) Out In Mobile

This is big: coming soon to an iPhone near you – in your pocket or purse, actually – is the ability to buy products on the go. Just choose a product, check out, and you’re done.


Our mobile team has been hard at work for the last couple of weeks to bring you this. Think about it: you’re on the move, walking on the sidewalk or commuting, and suddenly you remember that power drill/dress/ console game you just have to buy. No computer around, no time to go to the store.

No problem. Grab your mobile, open the App, find a store near you – mobile means local, right? – and buy the item. You can choose to ship it home, or pick it up in the store.

That’s not all: expect a smoother and better Shopin experience including the ability to add friends when you Shopin somewhere, bug fixes and lots more.

The Plot Thickens

Remember we wrote about that amazing stuff we’re busy with? And how we can’t tell you about it? Well we still can’t. Yes, we are going to keep teasing a little while longer. But trust us – in the very near future, the whole shop your way experience will change, dramatically.



Mobile News and a Mystery

So what’s new, you ask? How come we’re keeping a little quiet lately?

Well first of all there is news. Our mobile team has been hard at work improving our lovely iPhone app.

If you’ll kindly take a look, you’ll see that the Shopin experience has gotten a lot smoother and better looking. Want to shopin at a store and let your friends know you’re there? It’s a lot more fun from now on.

You can also post messages on your favorite brand pages, and are less likely to encounter annoying bugs along the way – our mobile team did a thorough job of squashing them.

So what else? How about some more news and features? Well actually we can’t tell you right now. We’ve been very very busy on some pretty amazing stuff which we can’t reveal just yet – but soon, we promise.

The Inside Story

Harmony: This week is about things fitting together, working in sync, and living peacefully together. We’re Zen like that.

Brand pages have been getting a lot of attention here lately, and rightly so. They’re cool, interesting, and at the very core of the site. That is why they got a nice upgrade: a lot more content. Our goal is to have every relevant piece of content interact and appear on the right brand page.

From now on, every story about a product will also be published in the appropriate brand page. A user wrote a review about a Kenmore freezer? It will automatically be published in the Kenmore brand page. A friend “liked” a new Adidas running shoe? You’ll be notified on the Adidas page.

And that’s not all. Brand page admins just got a lot more control over their pages: Admins can now control which stories get published on their pages, which in turn will enable them to make those pages so much more interesting.

Another very cool thing that admins can do is create brand catalogs. You’ll see product catalogs for various brands under a special tab in the brand page, all part of our ongoing initiative to turn these pages into the definitive hub for all things Kenmore, or Nike, or Craftsman.

We’re only scratching the surface here. Think about the possibilities of letting users interact with these catalogs… exciting stuff indeed. Stay tuned.




More Sweepstakes, More Deals

This week is about numbers, about more of the good stuff. If you like something, why not have more of it, right?

So we added more sweepstakes to the site – all in all about 80 new ones will be available by the end of March, and a lot more will be ready after that. Soon you’ll be able to enter dozens, even hundreds, of sweepstakes and increase your chances to win.

Then we went and added the new partners page. Because that’s what we’re like, always looking for more ways to make you guys happy. The new page offers great deals and benefits from our good friends and partners, just for you. Check it out!


 Give Us A Smile

One of the main things about ShopYourWay is the human connection. We want you to be able to get recommendations and advice from fellow shoppers with similar taste and interests. And for that to happen people need to know who they’re communicating with.

In order to make you all feel at home, we added a little tool that enables you to easily upload a profile picture, giving you a face and a true identity. Simply click on the “Add profile picture” teaser and follow the instructions. You’ll be surprised how much better it feels when everyone has a face to smile at.

Calling All Players

This week we decided to be even better hosts than usual. As we’ve told you, sweepstakes are big. People love them, and why shouldn’t they? They’re simple and fun.


So starting now, you don’t have to enter the site to take a look at them. We’ve created a page that lets you window shop before you decide to dive in. Take a look, check out the different sweeps awaiting you, and decide which one catches your eye. You’ll still need to sign in as a SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS member – free of charge and with great benefits, we should mention – but you can take a look before you leap.

Other than that you’ll notice things are moving a little faster and better. We made some improvements to our recommendation engines, and you’ll notice that the suggested products you’re seeing are even more on the spot than before. We aim to please, you know.

We also made some improvements to the SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS registration, Smoothing the edges and adding friendlier error messages. Lands’ end fans will be happy to know you can now register to the new ShopYourWay from the Lands’ end site.

Expect more cool features and news soon!

We’re Orange!

No need to adjust your glasses folks – as part of the site’s re branding we replaced the blue with bright, pretty orange, making the site look nicer, and a better fit for our SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS loyalty program.

That’s not the only change we made this week, naturally. Take a look at your interests page: there’s a new tab there, recommending cliques and tags we think you’ll find interesting. This is part of our ongoing effort to personalize the site for you (yes, you). Give it a try.

We also took a leap forward in the shopping department. Product pages are cooler now – because users can add images to a product page. It is also easier to find items or categories, since we aligned ourselves with you will now see the exact same product categories on both sites.

Shared by?

And last but not least: the sweepstakes, which are gaining popularity every week, now have a new social capability. Look at a sweepstake and you’ll see which one of your friends shared it. No doubt an interesting bit of information: why not go for that sweepstake your good buddy just signed in to?

There’s also stuff happening behind the scenes: bug fixes and improvements in the mobile app, smoothing out the registration process – like tuning the car’s engine. You can’t see anything, but it just runs smoother.
