Search, With a Little Help From Friends

The holidays are keeping our little elves busy, crating lovely new features to make your shopping lives better. You may have already noticed their work…

Did you feel something different about your newsfeed lately? Did you notice it’s got more of that Christmas cheer? Well it’s no coincidence. By giving Holiday related stories a little boost we made sure your experience on the site will be in the holiday spirit. We also have a special Christmas page!

Who Owns that?

Our hard working elves were also busy improving our search engine – adding new capabilities that will make your holiday shopping that much easier.

After typing your desired item and clicking enter, you’ll notice lots of new options. You can sort the results by price, relevancy and alphabetical order. Which is great and makes sense, but the really exciting part is sorting by your friends’ relation to the item.

What does that mean? You can sort items by how many indications of like, own and want they got on the site. Is the product you’re looking for on everybody’s wish list? Did it get lots of likes? Definitely something you’d like to know, isn’t it?

There’s a New Deal in Town

The shopping season is at full speed, and we on ShopYourWay keep rolling out the features to make your shopping experience smoother and easier.

And we’re picking up the pace as well. We introduced a new type of deal to the site – the deal of the day. It’s a great opportunity for shoppers with a quick mouse finger: Get a cool product at a great price – but for one day only. You snooze you lose!

Click on the deals tab in the homepage, and check it out: you can see the regular price and the (lower) one you’ll be asked to pay, The deals start and end time, and most important of all – you can click on add to cart and get it.

The Short Way to the Top

We’ve also been busy catering to the needs of page curators – you guys who manage pages and add awesome content to ShopYourWay.

If you’re managing a page – if not you can create one – you can now make sure your users see the best content first. Hover over an item, either one you posted or one posted by users. Basically any cool piece of content. Now click “stick to top” and see what happens.

Yes – the item appears on the top left of the page, and stays there, no matter what. You can have up to ten items “stuck”. Want to shake things up a little? “un-stick” an item following the same method.

Better Advice

And last but not least – we improved our help me choose polls, making them not only prettier but more helpful. You can now see how users voted even before you click, using the sage advice of your peers to decide what to buy.

Holiday Season – Get Smart

The preparations for the great shopping season continue at full speed. This week we concentrated our efforts on two important fronts: shoppers, and page curators.

Shoppers come first: for you guys we upgraded our newsfeed, making it even smarter and more effective than before, so you can easily find those awesome items and get them.

So here’s the deal: you can now take control of the feed and choose how it’s presented. You can either see the latest, newest stories, or choose to see the ones most relevant to you. You decide, you’ve got the power.

Pages, Get Ready

Our page curators are getting ready for the holiday rush as well – and by the way, you can manage your own page as well. Just go to our page creating tool, and make one for yourself, or claim ownership of an existing topic or brand page by clicking the relevant link on the page.

Now that you own a page, you should make it attractive and engaging. How? It’s not hard. Upload a cool image, and an impressive hero banner. Publish some interesting content – status messages, pictures and videos. Add catalogs of products, images of Christmas trees and what not.

The main idea is simple: decorate your page for the holidays, post interesting and diverse content – text, images and videos – and tag it accordingly, to the right categories, brands etc. If you build it, they will come.

And that’s exactly what we told our curators in the newsletter we recently sent them, in order to help them make their pages as cool as possible for you guys. Check them out – and stay tuned.


Shop Your (Android) Way

Well you probably guessed it – yes, we have a Shop Your Way android app! And it’s cool. Now those of you with Google powered smartphones can join the fun and use our new app for a better and cooler shopping experience.

So what can you do with our app? First of all you can get all the info you need. See how many SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS points you have and what’s your VIP status. Browse through your purchase history, and see what’s in your online shopping cart.

What else? You’ve got your REWARDS card right there in your phone, including your PIN number. You can also check out available deals, and use a search engine to look for products.

But hey, better yet – you can scan items in a store with the app and learn all you need to know about the product.

Our mobile team is just warming up – lots of exciting stuff is coming your way, and soon.

Meanwhile on Apple Territory

All that hard android work did not hurt our ongoing efforts to make our iPhone app even better. In the last couple of weeks we completely re-designed all pages on the app, making them easier to navigate – and extremely good looking too.

Let’s start with you. Yes, you. Your profile page not only looks better, it also supports hero ads, bringing more customization options to the table. But it’s not only the profile page that got an upgrade: brand pages look cool, and store pages have store hours and other information clearly presented.

And for those of you managing a page on Shop Your Way – check out the left navigation. Yes, that’s a quick access link to your pages. Not enough? We upgraded our mobile search engine to easily track down pages. Just because we were in a good mood.

And there’s more coming – Apple is about to let loose with a new iPhone and a new version of iOs – and we’ll be ready. Stay tuned.


More Pages for You!

It’s page frenzy over here: we keep rolling out new page types and connecting them all together.

What’s up this week? Well, we’ve got new special pages for places – that hotel you just stayed in for example, or your favorite Kmart store.

Park Hotel

We’ve also got topic pages, created automatically from stories in our site. Say we just published a story about redecorating houses. Want to learn more or discuss with fellow shoppers? Go to the newly created redecorating topic page. Great, isn’t it?

Not only that, but we’ll help you discover specific pages that we know you’ll like. You’ll get recommendations to follow pages according to your tastes and interests in the suggested activity box on the right rail. You’ll also see related pages in your favorite brand or clique page. It’s one smooth seamless experience

Games, Fun and Mobile

We didn’t mention sweepstakes for a while, but rest assured they’re still here and going strong. Check out the new ones we just uploaded – it’s fun!

Also, on mobile: you can now post stuff on your friends’ wall. You can also delete a status message you published with an elegant swipe of your finger. Almost makes you want to delete stuff for the heck of it. Enjoy!



Measure Your Page’s Performance

We’ve got some very exciting news for you – your requests have been answered and your page is now equipped with a powerful statistics tab. Yup, you can now see how your page is doing and how your users react to it.

Eager to take a look? Go to your page under the admin identity and you’ll notice a new tab called “page stats.” Click on it and see how many visits your page got, how active and engaged your users are, and most important of all, trending topics.

The great thing about the stats tab is that you can gauge if you’re doing things right, or should adjust and change. If the trend is positive, then you’re doing great. If it’s negative, there’s no need to panic, it just means you should try a new approach on the page.

This is just a first step; we have more options and features designed to help you understand your followers better, and manage an awesome page.
