Thousands of New Videos!

Videos are one of the most engaging and visual types of content. As part of our efforts to make the site even more fun to use, we are bringing in videos from interesting channels on AOL On, including sports, food, health, autos, pets, video games, style videos, and more!

With 5,000 videos soon to be available at your fingertips, we’re sure you’ll be watching ShopYourWay just as much as to Downton Abbey.

Got a Question? Ask Directly

There’s a new way to ask a question, and it’s directly from your profile page.

If you have a question you need answered, you can now ask it, comment on it, or answer another question by clicking on the “Questions” tab on your profile.

Create a Catalog on Your Android

We know how much you love creating catalogs – a lot! We’re now bringing this feature to mobile devices so you can create catalogs on the go.

That’s right, we’re giving you the capability to create and display catalogs directly from your Android device. You’ll also be able to easily explore other catalogs while you create, edit, and add items to your own.

It’s fun, super easy, and impossible to stop once you start (but then again, why would you want to?).

Out With the Old, In With the New

Its official: as of right now, the new design of Shop Your Way is king. The old design has left the building, for good. Users can now enjoy the full benefits – both functional and aesthetic – of the new site.

Growing up is a process. It doesn’t happen in one day. And moving from the old site to the new one was similar – delicate and complex. We were moving away not from an old graphic design, but from a certain mindset that affected the site’s functionality.

During the interim period users could have switched to the old site, mainly as a means to access features that were not yet migrated to the new design. Now that the process is complete, there is no further need of switching back and forth: All of the site’s great features are available in one enticing experience.

The new site’s design emphasizes flexibility. The display adjusts itself to fit your screen of choice. Various filters let you control the information you receive. The new profile page lets you easily jump back and forth from your personal info to your interests to your catalogs – everything in one place.

The quickview offers a quick summary of everything you need to know. Catalogs aggregate all of your stuff in an easy to get display. Everything is fast and easy to understand and configure.

And let’s not forget: very pretty as well. Looks are important!

We hope you enjoy the new site – we have lots of new features and improvements coming up. So stay tuned.

Hey, It’s The New You

This week’s update is special – it’s basically about you. Yes, you. See, we’ve gone and turned your profile page into a new and wonderful thing, and we’re excited.

Gone is the old timid page of yesterday. The new profile page is slick and cool. It’s aligned with the rest of the different pages on the site, keeping things consistent and pretty. And most importantly – it’s easy to navigate and extremely functional.

Check it out: your basic info is on top, next to your profile picture – how many people follow you, the number of catalogs you own etc.

Under that you’ll find the tabs. First is recent activity – all the stuff you’ve been up to lately, plus the ability to post a status message, photo, video or product. Next to it is the personal info tab that lets you edit the info you present about yourself.

Next comes the catalogs tab, giving you access and control over your collection. and last but not least, there’s the “more” menu, that lets you tinker with the insides of the machine. See who asked to follow you, edit your personal details and so much more.

This is just the beginning: the profile page is going to get even better, giving you all the info and control you could possibly want. Oh yes.

And a New Way in

Speaking of slick and pretty: we’ve got a new sign in/register process, and it’s short and sweet. The screens are cleaner and clearer. The process itself is shorter and easier to complete. It’s like we built a shiny new highway leading to our place, so you all can come visit.

So come in and enjoy the site. Bring your friends along.

And stay tuned.

If You Build it, They Will Come

We keep telling you how great brand pages are, and how you should really follow pages of stores near you, or of your favorite celebrity. But why should you just follow? Why not lead?

As of now, you can create your own page. It’s simple: click on “pages” in the left navigation pane and decide which type of page you’d like to manage. A fan page dedicated to your favorite band, a social cause you want to promote, or maybe a brand you like.

The process is automatic and fast. Choose the page type, fill a few details and you’re done. Now you just need to take good care of that page and make it as interesting and fun as you can.

Help is on the Way

A cool new feature in our search engine: if you search for an answer to a support related question – the whereabouts of your SHOP YOUR WAY REWARDS number for example – you’ll get an automatic help message, directing you to the relevant help page. Helpful, we know.

We’ve got some more great stuff: check out your catalogs, and you’ll see a new feature on the top right – the new comments section. This is the place to discuss the catalog, make suggestions and see what other people think about it. Go ahead and try it.

Last but not least: We’ve got a great tool for you shoppers. when you check out a product you’ll be able to see related products that you may find interesting as well. For example, if you’re going to buy an iPod, you’ll see cases for the Apple music player, earphones etc. This is a great way to save time and effort and get all the stuff you need in one place.

Enjoy the site and stay tuned!

It’s Your Choice to Make

The real secret in this age of way-too-much-information is filtering and sorting. That’s what you need to master: how to turn that huge tidal wave of data into neatly divided small streams of info.

That’s what we’re about this week. Sorting and filtering, helping you see exactly what you want to see.

Here we go: first thing’s first – catalogs. Or to be more precise, catalogs in pages. One of the great things about ShopYourWay is the ability to organize items relevant to a store or brand page in catalogs. The page manager can do it – and so can any follower of the page.

Say you go to Kmart’s brand page, and take a look at the catalogs. Some of them were created by the page manager, others by users. Not the same thing, right? Click on the arrow on the right and choose what you’d like to see – community catalogs, or those created by the brand manager. Nifty, isn’t it?

Same thing with questions. What would you like to see – questions created by fellow shoppers, or by the page manager? Now you can easily choose.

Look at the Pretty Pictures

Remember infographics? The lovely format which lets you learn lots of new stuff about the brand or item by using visual means? Well now it’s on our product pages as well. Check out the product you want and see how many people of a certain age group or gender are interested in it as well.

And last but not least – one of the key factors to all the stuff we listed above is following. Following a cool fellow shopper, a brand you like or a catalog you find interesting. The more stuff you follow, the more interesting your feed will become.

So – in order to make following easier we added it to the hover options. See something you like? Hover your mouse cursor over it, and check out the elegant little menu of actions that magically appears. If you can follow the item, a follow option will be there. One click and you’re done.

That’s it for now. Stay tuned for some surprises next week!

We Are at Full Speed!

This is it folks! We are now officially strutting around in our new clothes. All users arriving on ShopYourWay will see it in its newly designed glory. Yes, we are quite proud, thanks.

And of course, we wasted no time in celebrations, and have a few nifty new features to tell you about. That’s just how we roll.

So what do we have for you this week: let’s take a look at store pages, for example. First of all, notice how everything looks better and more organized, and how easy it is to locate the opening hours and other important info.

Now if you’ll look closely you’ll see a new tab titled “Searslocalad” – which translates roughly to “amazing deals you really shouldn’t miss in a store near you”. Yes, you can now check out specific deals in each store, and get some great products while saving money. Nice of us, we know.

What else you ask? Well our department pages just got a new tab as well, “categories”, letting you check out the specific sub-category you’re interested in. If you’re into video games, you can browse and even follow just that specific category.

And last but not least – when browsing catalogs in a brand page, you can now sort them and view only catalogs created by the page curator, or by the community.

We’ll Let You Know

The mobile team has been hard at work: hot local deals? You can find them on our iPhone app too. You can also check if those items you crave reached your favorite store, and set up an availability notification so you don’t have to keep staring at the screen all the time. We’ve got you covered, no worries.

Stay tuned. More cool stuff coming next week!
